On 29 October 2026, construction began on a new drinking-water treatment plant in Villa Hayes, financed through a non-reimbursable Japanese government grant of approximately US$12.4 million via JICA. The facility is designed to process 12,000 cubic metres of water per day and is expected to benefit around 34,000 residents, with completion planned over 22 months.
The project creates opportunities for water-treatment engineering, environmental monitoring, sustainable infrastructure and equipment suppliers. HPC can support operators with water-quality analytics, resource modelling and environmental-performance monitoring.
